I am a wife, mother of two beautiful daughters and nana of six grand babies who are my greatest joy. I create in my country home studio in the hills of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Creating is so much a part of who I am I can barely remember a time that was not creative in some way. Whether I am painting, sculpting, or repurposing a piece of furniture or even cooking in my kitchen, my imagination leads me to another place entirely.
I began to have a love for drawing at a very young age. When my art journey more seriously began in the late 90's, I painted in a primitive folk art style similar to Rufus Porter. However my style gradually evolved, and I started painting women with inspirational passages and verses of scripture surrounding them. One day when I painted in public, a woman who studied art in Boston stopped to insist that I must be inspired by Modigliani. Being a self taught artist I only knew of Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Michelangelo. Sure enough upon further research, I agree that the women I painted and sculpted at that time resembled the work of Modigliani. My style was long necks and long noses. Who knows, maybe we are distant relatives.
I presently have a love for abstract realism. I paint things I love, and my goal is to paint my abstract work with childlike freedom in an act of worship to the lover of my soul, my God and savior, Jesus Christ!
